Stanley Kuberick's 'The shining'. I like this film for a multitude of reasons, It's gripping and intriguing. It keeps you guessing and asking yourself questions all the way through to the end. The ending itself is another reason this film is as throughout the entire film you feel like you are getting closer to the truth and then all of a sudden your entire idea for what is actually going on is shattered in a shot lasting no longer than 10 seconds. Ultimately the best part of this film for me would have to be the opening credits. The opening credits immediately make you uneasy as you follow overhead shots of the mountains of north America this accompanied by the films deep ominous soundtrack as it begins to zoom in on a small car driving along the mountainous roads make for such a powerful and creepy opening. The film has a strong lead with Jack Nicholson playing Jack torrence a writer who becomes the carer of the overlook hotel with his family. The film follows his decent into madness.
